Two University of Newcastle academics have won one of the highest world accolades it’s possible to get for excellence in online education. Andrew Howells and Bernadette Drabsch are this year’s winners of the annual Prize for Exceptional Contributions in Online Teaching and Learning awarded by US massive open online course (MOOC) provider edX. The pair were chosen from a field of 14 finalists. Their course, Drawing Nature, Science and Culture: Natural History Illustration 101 which is offered by edX, broke new ground by teaching drawing online.
