Enrollment in the Nursing college has increased 60 percent since last fall, mainly due to increased interest in three online programs. This fall the school has 5,053 students enrolled, an increase of 1,897 students from fall 2009. Beth Mancini, undergraduate nursing programs associate dean, said the state set a standard in 2009 for the number of nursing graduates to double by 2012. UTA decided to accomplish this goal by offering online nursing courses, which is an academic partnership program. Mancini said 20 percent of the college’s growth is from online programs. “Nursing is a growth profession, one of the fastest growing professions with the greatest need,” she said.
