One of the common complaints about smartphones is insufficient battery life. Now, a developing technology in San Diego may change that. Computer scientists at the University of California San Diego are creating a prototype smartphone chip using “dark silicon,” expected to be 7.5 to 11 times more efficient than mobile application processors currently on the market.
