These days it can seem like technology is encroaching in every aspect of our lives. For libraries, technology has made it easier for patrons to look up books, allow for faster checkouts and enable cardholder’s access to the Internet. However, one of the best, and somewhat unknown, resources now available through most public libraries is online databases. An electronic online database is a searchable catalog or index that provides articles and information from journals, books, magazines, newspapers and other sources. Databases are great research tools for many types of projects. The Ira Township Library has over 100 online databases available to cardholding patrons at the touch of a keyboard.
