Starting next semester, students will be able to purchase some of their textbooks without ever setting foot outside their homes. The University Bookstore plans to offer 125 e-book titles through its website next semester. This fall is the first time they have offered e-books, but students had to purchase them in the store. The books cost around 40 percent of the price of their new print versions. The store has sold 97 e-books since the first day of classes and Richard Shannon, the University Bookstore general manager, said that number may rise once the e-books become available on the bookstore’s website. “Everybody in the market is looking for ways to lower the price of textbooks — whether that’s through rentals, used books, or e-books,” he said.
