Ray Henderson, one of the most visible executives at Blackboard and a driving force behind its core learning-management products, has moved out of an operating role at the ed-tech giant and taken a new position as a director. This is no small move. Henderson, who joined Blackboard through the $95 million acquisition of rival platform Angel Learning in 2009, has headed up the company’s Academic Platforms division since then (also serving as CTO). That role gave Henderson leadership over Blackboard’s product strategy, including its flagship learning management system Learn, making him one of the most important voices in the direction of the company.
