Teacher getting noticed for online course - Adam Huras, Telegraph-Journal
A typical school day for Miramichi Grade 12 teacher Allan Trueman sees him saunter into James M. Hill Memorial, sit down at his desk and open three online chat rooms where he will spend the day, type-talking away. "If you're a student from anywhere in the province and want to take Canadian history, you can," said Trueman, who teaches it online. "No matter if your school has it or not." His efforts have won him national recognition and a nomination for the Governor General's Award for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History. Trueman created an online Grade 12 Canadian history course and teaches political science and world issues to students anywhere there is an Internet connection, as part of New Brunswick's distance learning program.
