No need for a suit and tie at NAIT’s online learning school of business - JOEL SEMCHUK, Vue Weekly
Here at NAIT’s recently christened JR Shaw School of Business, great steps are being taken towards modernizing for a young, dynamic and technology-oriented generation. Anyone who is able to handle the rigorous computer aspect can take first-year business courses through online learning. Completely online; the only time students need to show up in person is to write mid-terms and finals. “It allows the person to take the whole course without having to set foot on campus,” explains Sam Fefferman, Chair in Technology and Research at the JR Shaw School of Business at NAIT. “[People would] rather take courses at their own leisure ... now they can do it at midnight if they wanted to.” The idea behind the online courses, says Fefferman, was to encourage around-the-clock education for anyone on an odd schedule that doesn’t allow regular class attendance.
