Distance learning right option for boy - SANDRA E. CONSTANTINE, Republican
Donald R. Stephens, 14, turned academic failure into success last year by working with his grandmother as a distance learner with Laurel Springs School in Ojai, Calif. His family made the decision to enroll him in the distance school after he failed seventh grade at Granby Junior-Senior High School despite high test scores. "The school just wasn't a good fit for him. There are some students who do well there, but it just wasn't a good school for Donnie," his grandmother, Mary A. Kuntz said during a recent interview at their Ferry Hill Road home.
