Online classes boost flexibility, discourse - Georgann Yara, Arizona Republic
In-class discussions about the significance of American literature and the power of prose was an activity in which McClintock High School student Josh Gomez rarely participated. But the soft-spoken sophomore flourishes in the Tempe Union High School District online classes that let his fingers do the talking. "I'm not into talking in class a lot. Usually, I don't speak at all, but I tend to post more. I'm adding more input," said Josh, who also took his freshman English class online last year. The courses allow students throughout the district flexibility within their schedules and give them the opportunity to take an extra class during what would be an already full day.
