Zogby Report Finds Surge in Online Learning
Online learning is surging among academic institutions, according to a September 2005 statistical analysis conducted by polling, market and statistical research firm Zogby International. The findings were commissioned by Blackboard Inc., a leading provider of e-Learning software and services, and include data from more than 830 academic institutions gathered between spring semester 2003 and fall semester 2005. According to Zogby research, a growing number of students, faculty and corporations are using online learning to conduct coursework or supplement classroom work, with the number of active users expanding by a factor of ten in just three years; course offerings quintupled.
