University of Minnesota Crookstoon's plans for future - Mike Christopherson, Crookston Daily Times
UMC became known worldwide as the Laptop U in 1993 when it became the first campus in the nation to issue a laptop computer to each student. Those days are long gone, Massey said, meaning that UMC has to become renowned for something else. Online learning might be just the thing, he said. UMC is the first U of M campus to offer a baccalaureate degree entirely online, the bachelor of applied health. "I think online learning is our next step beyond being the Laptop U," Massey said. "I think we're there and I think we can do phenomenal things with our Distance Education program."
