On the Advantages of E-Learning - Nick Van Dam, Times of India

Broadly speaking, e-learning refers to net-enabled learning targeted to achieve business goals. On-line virtual classrooms, on-line learning self-study guides or on-line books, all constitute e-learning. The e-learning market is relatively young and picked up some time around 1996. It was only a few million dollar venture then, but it has now grown into a 6.5 billion dollar industry. India has a distinct advantage because of a highly educated workforce and English language skills. The power of e-learning is that a person can choose the courses he wishes to take. E-learning enables the learner to customise the courses according to his/her requirement and thus saves a lot of time.
