Online courses cast a wide net - Candace Chase, The Daily Inter Lake
From the frozen reaches of Antarctica, a Flathead Valley Community College student recently took part in class discussions, took tests and earned academic credit. Alexandra "Zandy" Startin, the college's online class wizard, recalled the only problem was making sure the student's books arrived before weather shut down mail delivery. "It's pretty amazing where technology has gotten to," she said. With a computer with Internet access, a student can attend Flathead Valley classes at 2 a.m. in pajamas from anywhere in the world. The fall catalog offers 18 online credit classes and dozens of noncredit classes ranging from art to philosophy.
