Logan Community College Summer Enrollment Highest Ever: Online Enrollments Lead the Way - JOHN D. HOMAN, the Southern Illinoisan

Enrollment records recently released by John A. Logan College officials indicate that an all-time high of 2,921 students registered for classes this summer. That's a 9 percent increase over the previous summer record of 2,669 set in 1996.... Online enrollment this summer has also increased dramatically at the college. The number of students has jumped from 229 in 2003 to 350 this year. Distance learning coordinator Steve McLaughlin said it's a sign of the times that more and more students prefer the convenience of working at home.  "Through word of mouth, online enrollment is growing," he said. "We have students enrolled in creative writing, digital imaging, literature, biology, and much more."
