U Washington, UN Partner To Teach Distance Course On Microfinance

There’s nothing small about the area of microfinance. Thirty years since its first practitioners began offering small business loans to the poor in Bangladesh, it has blossomed into a global credit and savings industry that helps people of developing countries earn a dignified living. To help folks understand this important – and still controversial – branch of development policy, the University of Washington and the United Nations have joined forces to teach a distance learning course on microfinance.
