Distance learning in the music business - Bipasha Ray, Associated Press
...the online initiative by Boston's Berklee College of Music that has created a virtual school for music aficionados to learn everything from music theory to songwriting, recording and selling their music. The online venture's 15 classes - costing $295 to $795, depending on duration, and limited to non-instrumental instruction - formally started this spring after a pilot program last fall. So far the courses have attracted about 175 students from all over the United States and 14 other countries including Japan, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates. Students come looking for training in music recording software, getting started on lyrics and songwriting, learning how to market their music without having to rely on a recording label and the ease of learning any time and anywhere - work, home or computer laboratory, said Dave Kusek, head of the online school.
