Canada Supports African Virtual University
The Honourable Susan Whelan, Minister for International Cooperation, today announced that Canada, through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), will contribute $12 million over the next five years to the African Virtual University (AVU). "The African Virtual University aims to bridge the knowledge gap between Africa and the rest of the world by dramatically increasing affordable access to high-quality education resources throughout the continent," Minister Whelan said. "This will help African countries to meet their educational requirements, especially in post-secondary areas such as the sciences and management."
