netLibrary eBooks a Growing Phenomenon - George Lorenzo, Educational Pathways
Electronic Books (eBooks) are alive and well at netLibrary, a growing provider of eBooks out of Boulder, CO that was acquired in January last year by the OCLC Online Computer Library Center. OCLC is the Dublin, Ohio-based, non-profit, global-library cooperative founded in 1967 by university presidents to share library resources and reduce library costs. Today, OCLC serves more than 43,500 libraries in 86 countries, providing online cataloging, reference, resource sharing, digitization and preservation services. At the center of OCLC services is the world’s largest database of bibliographic records, called WorldCat. Library patrons access WorldCat through OCLC’s FirstSearch service.
