More Georgia students finding education in ‘virtual classrooms’- Jaime Sarrio, Gwinett Daily

Pedra Rogers finally got the message. After losing her third job in 13 years, Rogers decided to leave the commuter industry. The mother of four needed job training but didn’t have time to sit in classes all day, so she decided to make computers work for her. Rogers enrolled in online courses last fall at Gwinnett Technical College and is working toward her dream job as a nurse. “I didn’t want to get boxed in to having to be on campus at a certain time,” said the Dacula resident. “I needed the flexibility that allowed me to look for another job.” Rogers is one of thousands of Georgians discovering the benefits of online education. In Gwinnett, all of the colleges and universities offer online courses, and even high school students in Gwinnett County Public Schools can earn course credit online.
