A Database Management System for Course Design in Distance Education - Haluk YAPICIOGLU, Anadolu University
Introduction: Education is an instrument to develop skills and exploit opportunities for individuals in the society. As a developing country, education is a vital issue for Turkey. The demand for all types of education is increasing whereas the resources such as schools and lecturers are limited and it is not possible to reach at sufficient levels in short period of time. Therefore, it seems it is quite difficult for Turkey to achieve an overall education level required by a modern society using conventional educational approaches and techniques. By providing new alternatives in education, democratizing the educational process and providing lifetime education opportunities, distance education is a strategic opportunity for nations in improving the educational services.
