Plotting a New Course: SFCC's Health-care Distance Learning - KATHY PINTO, The New Mexican
A three-year-old "distance-learning" program for health-care workers developed by Santa Fe Community College is boosting career opportunities and improving the lives of Northern New Mexico residents, advocates say. The program - which allows students to take classes via the Internet -was designed to reach rural and tribal populations unable to attend traditional college courses. Filipita Loretto of Jemez Pueblo became a certified nutritional technician after taking several online courses in nutrition and diabetes through the college's Classroom Without Walls Distance Learning Program while working as an administrative assistant at the Jemez Clinic.
