Lake Land expands online degrees - Becky Rhoads, Paris Beacon

Lake Land is ranked second out of all Illinois community colleges and seventh in all of Illinois higher education for the number of online courses offered. During academic year 2002, Lake Land offered 231 sections of online courses and served more than 3,000 students via online teaching and learning. The overall grade point average for students enrolled in online courses is 2.78, while the average GPA for all Lake Land students overall is 2.83. The retention rate for online courses is 83 percent compared to the national average of 50 percent. “This is a remarkable feat that faculty and staff have worked hard to achieve,” said Scott Lensink, vice president for academic services.
