Jaundiced look at distance learning promised
A realistic examination of the plusses and minuses of distance learning has been promised on the opening day of the Pacific Telecommunications Council's week-long PTC2003 conference at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The panel is called, "Online Learning: Panacea or Pestilence?" Barry Brown, a professor of instructional systems technology at the University of Saskatchewan, will moderate a panel that also includes Oregon State University Associate Dean for Extended Education Mike Davenport and others. The panel promises to cover "the facts and fallacies associated with the ever-increasing trend to learning at a distance."
