Internet fake colleges offer no-study diplomas for price - Seth Harkness, Herald

The usual road to a bachelor’s degree takes at least four years to travel, with stacks of reading, tests and papers along the way. But a number of bogus Internet schools offer college degrees that can be obtained in a month or less, with little more effort than it takes to write a check. They may also provide transcripts, references and school rings along with their worthless diplomas. Several state and private educational agencies have recently teamed up to warn Vermont students about these so-called diploma mills.
