Elite Colleges Finally Embrace Web Degree Courses - Charles Forelle
...Just a few years ago that would have been unthinkable. Elite schools such as Harvard had largely avoided the "distance-learning" boom, which has elevated the fortunes of some entrepreneurs in the private sector, including the thriving University of Phoenix, and bolstered enrollment at public colleges.... But now, some top universities appear to be overcoming their qualms. Their embrace will lend added credibility to distance learning -- and could help keep the colleges from being outpaced by nimbler competitors in the race for the top students.
