Babson College to Study Online Learning Population With Support From Sloan Foundation Award - Ascribe Newswire
How many people are learning online? The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation has awarded a $45,000 grant to Babson College to support research that will measure the current online learning population in the U.S. ''The question of how many students are engaged in online learning may seem simple,'' says Babson College Associate Professor I. Elaine Allen, who is designing and conducting the study. ''But because the field is so new, there is no comprehensive data source at the federal or private levels that measures trends and patterns. Not only do we not know how many students are engaged in online learning, we have little idea about what topics they are pursuing nor how many are taking advantage of online learning opportunities.''
