... Scattered around the world, they attend Oceania University of Medicine on the tiny Polynesian island of Samoa without leaving their hometowns, or even their homes. Like students in traditional medical schools, the 10 students enrolled in what is thought to be the world's first Internet-based medical school started training in March by immersing themselves in the basic sciences. But instead of sitting in a given lecture hall at a given time, they enter OUM's virtual classrooms at their convenience, learning how the body functions -- and how to fix it when it doesn't -- by studying real-life cases such as Matt's on the Internet.
