Student Teachers Watched Over Web - KSFY
For years Northern State University in Aberdeen has sent student teachers to schools within a short drive of the Hub City. But now, distance is no longer a factor thanks to an E-Learning grant from Governor Bill Janklow. Now, student teachers are going places they've rarely gone before - into rural South Dakota. Carol Knecht supervises student teacher Sarah Crance as she goes through a lesson with her first grade class. What's unique is that Crance is more than 125 miles away from campus. Once a week, Knecht sits in front of a web cam and critiques Sarah's work over the Internet. The "Rural Student Teacher Placement Program" puts student teachers in places they've rarely gone before.
