Online Learning: Creating Systemic Organizational Change in Higher Education - Debbie Naquin
During this century, institutions of higher education will undergo drastic changes in response to modified internal and external demands. Effective college and university governance in the 21st century will therefore depend upon the institution’s governance system’s ability to create change rather than simply react to it. Two innovations that will have a drastic effect on our concept of governance within higher education are technology and distance education, particularly the virtual campus. Questions regarding intellectual property and ownership of courses, faculty workload, and the regulation and accreditation of distance learning should be addressed.
