Portals for Higher Education - John Fleischman, Converge
Most higher-education campus administrators understand the necessity of using the Internet to provide students with Web-based administrative, curricular and calendar information. But many college administrators are overwhelmed by the onslaught of software applications, and most administrators are not able to comfortably evaluate the value of the many different solutions available today. To assist in this decision-making process, this article will address two important questions: What are portals, and why are they important? What are some of the currently available portal services and products?
