The program consists of 130 courses that can be taken by mail or through Web-based technology. Each year, about 5,000 students take the opportunity to get a couple of credit hours out of the way without actually spending the extra hours on campus. "IDL is perfect for students who need to work on courses anytime or anywhere," said Melissa Pettigrew, IDL coordinator for Marketing, Student Recruitment and Outreach. "It's a great option for students who need a flexible alternative to day classes or want to earn credit over the summer or while abroad," Pettigrew said. After registration, a packet of course materials and class lessons is sent to the student via mail, WebCT or CD-ROM....
