Twenty UI professors are testing out a new online tool this semester that detects plagiarism in papers. Turnitin.com evaluates each paper, highlighting and underlining material that is found in its extensive database. The site will send a report back to the instructor with a list of links, each leading directly to the material in question, which is color-coded to indicate the severity of the problem. Lola Lopes, the university's associate provost for undergraduate education, said observations among professors suggest that the availability and popularity of the Internet has made plagiarism easier and more prevalent....
