In the letter, Joseph Wood apologizes to John Broida for statements he made about a videotaped lecture by Broida that a student complained about.... Wood, who is in charge of academic appointments, issued a memo criticizing Broida's remarks as offensive after the complaint became public. An ad hoc committee later recommended that videotapes used by professors in classes be reviewed for "accuracy and integrity" before they are distributed to students. "Things got out of whack," Reben said. "The point is to rebalance things so the principle of academic freedom is strong, and the suggestion that professors' videotaped lectures be censored be rejected."....
