ROTC Training Goes Online

Training for cadets in the U.S. Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps will change dramatically this fall when ROTC goes online. For the first time, more than 35,000 ROTC cadets enrolled at 1,400 colleges in the United States will receive standardized training via the Internet. Since its founding in 1916, ROTC has produced more than 500,000 lieutenants for the U.S. Army. Three quarters of all Army officers have come from ROTC programs. Traditionally, however, the training they received was designed by local military science instructors at individual colleges. Those instructors followed only general guidelines handed down from ROTC headquarters....
