http://chronicle.com/free/2002/09/2002092702t.htm Changes to Financial-Aid Limit for Distance Programs Will Not Come This Year, Senator Warns DAN CARNEVALE Congress will not ease financial-aid restrictions this session for institutions that enroll more than half of their students through distance education, a key senator warned on Thursday. The proposed rule changes will have to wait until Congress debates reauthorization of the Higher Education Act next year. At issue is a law denying federal financial aid to students who attend colleges that enroll more than 50 percent of their students at a distance. Sen. Michael B. Enzi, a Wyoming Republican, said the law would remain on the books until at least 2003....
