Many public colleges face cuts in funds for computers and online education

Back in the late 1990s, before the recession hit, many states poured money into technology in higher education. State leaders thought that public colleges would be improved, and many hoped that technology would lead to savings in teaching and administration. But now that states are mired in an economic slowdown, many public colleges and universities are cutting back on technology spending and are requiring students to pay more for computer services....
