Infusing E-learning: Strategies for acceptance

Some of the most powerful implementations of e-learning have deployed an "infusion" technique rather than a revolutionary model. By starting where people and the organization are most ready for change, e-learning can gain widespread familiarity and acceptance, without loud drum rolls. An example can be found on the campuses of North America. The bulk of e-learning is an extension of traditional on-campus classes. Professors, often responding to the requests of their students, have been steadily populating "Course Web Sites." These often start with the teacher posting class notes and materials, and extend to online assignments, threaded discussions, virtual office hours, and facilities for the digital exchange of papers between learners and faculty....
