Maryland) ...The idea of online classes was an impossibility less than a decade ago. However, the idea has now become a reality -- more than 30 percent of campus students will receive online instruction this year....Students at University of Maryland University College can participate in 20 online degree programs. Other universities, including the University of Illinois and Stanford University, have also adopted online courses. More than 150 people have earned degrees from Illinois without having to move to that state. Stanford will have its first 25 online graduates this spring, while other universities, including the University of Texas at Arlington, have reported a sharp increase in the amount of students taking distance education classes....
