Tiedemann, Director of Faculty Computing and Media Services Syracuse University ABSTRACT This article presents an overview of selected general delivery options (e.g., videoconferencing, online learning, etc.) and specific software applications for developing and delivering instruction electronically, especially via the World Wide Web. A summary of the relative merits of developing customized software and of buying commercial software sets the stage for a brief review of 15 delivery options and software packages. In particular, seven course management systems or courseware packages are considered.
