Students Head Out to Video Stores for an Online Course in Contemporary Film

An online course offered by Colorado State University teaches students the ins and outs of contemporary film, including common terms and technique, stylistic features, and history. But instead of sending students to libraries in search of obscure classics by directors like Sergei Eisenstein and Jean Renoir, it asks them to frequent a more popular spot: the local Blockbuster video store....
