Distance learning requests growing - Miss. colleges may face more out-of-state competition

Out-of-state colleges' enrollments in Mississippi(Source: Mississippi Commission on College Accreditation ) :
Crichton College, 25 students (as of 2000)
Troy State University, 26 students (as of 2000)
Spring Hill College, 11students (as of 2000)
Tulane University, 1,000 students (projected enrollment). Tulane plans to open a Biloxi branch in August 2002 .

Tennessee's Belmont University is part of a growing lineup of more than a dozen out-of-state institutions considering teaching college classes in Mississippi via distance learning. A 3,200-student Baptist school in Nashville, Belmont is among 15 institutions inquiring with the Mississippi Commission on College Accreditation about offering courses here....
