KELLOGG A new study by two professors at the Rochester Institute of Technology concludes that online plagiarism is not nearly as widespread as has frequently been suggested. The study, to be published in the May/June issue of the Journal of College Student Development, surveyed 698 undergraduates students at nine colleges and universities, eight in the United States and one in the Middle East. Among other things, students were asked how much plagiarism they had engaged in -- be it from books or from online sources -- and the amount of plagiarizing they believed their peers were doing.
