Debating the Demise of NYUonline - Did the venture go under because of the changing economy or bad decisions?

New York University may have been the perfect place to start a for-profit distance-learning venture. The university is known for the quality of its professional and continuing-education programs. It has close ties to Wall Street and has attracted an entrepreneurial administration. But in the end, the business flopped. The university blames last month's closure of the distance-learning company, called NYUonline, on the economy. But several sources inside the institution and the company say that the business plan was inadequate and that NYUonline couldn't break from its academic roots to operate as a business....
