College hopes online courses will ease enrollment crush

Hybrid education -- part classroom learning and part online course work -- could be the magic bullet that helps Algonquin College deal with the coming wave of enrolment, known as the "double cohort." If things work out the way school officials hope, by 2003 students enrolled in courses at Algonquin will be spending 15 to 20 per cent of their course time in online learning. That's enough to offset classroom space needs for 2,000 students....
