"Consumers are best advised to check on the school's accreditation," said Mike Lambert, executive director of the Distance Education and Training Council, which accredits private educational institutions. The Internet has spawned the rebirth of "diploma mills" that bestow nearly worthless degrees, Lambert warned. Such diplomas won't fool employers, so students had better beware....
