Haney, Deseret News staff writer PROVO — For many college freshmen, English 115 is a semester of two-page essays, lengthy lectures in a packed auditorium and fighting 200 other students for a few minutes with the professor. Such required classes are a headache for college leaders, too. The courses, which all students must take to complete general-education credits, are expensive, demand a lot of classroom space and are difficult to monitor for quality. Brigham Young University is looking at Web sites and e-mail messages as the keys to solving the problem....
