UC Irvine Officials hope to begin offering the 'more accessible' master's in criminology next summer
By DAVID HALDANE

UC Irvine is proposing a new master's degree program in criminology that would offer the first online graduate degree in the University of California system, campus officials said Thursday. "The idea is to provide an advanced degree in a way that's more accessible," Karen Morris, a spokeswoman for the Irvine campus, said of the proposed online graduate program in criminology, law and society. "A lot of people are in the work force--they don't have the time or money to go back to grad school for a master's degree for two or three years. This is a way for them to get the same quality course work but do it via the Internet."...

(ed. note - this will be the first degree in the UC system to be offered entirely online)
