http://chronicle.com/free/2001/07/2001071201u.htm Subcommittee Endorses Bill to Ease Restrictions on Distance Education By DAN CARNEVALE A House subcommittee passed a bill on Wednesday to make it easier for some distance-education programs to offer federal financial aid, despite strong opposition by Democratic lawmakers who said that too many restrictions would be lifted. The subcommittee on postsecondary education of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce passed the bill, H.R. 1992, on a voice vote. The bill must be considered by the full committee before the House can vote on it....
