http://www.chronicle.com/free/2001/06/2001062001u.htm National Governors Association Calls for Expansion of Distance Education By SARAH CARR The National Governors Association has released two reports that together offer a ringing endorsement of distance education, although one of the reports also stresses that more work needs to be done to assess the quality of specific courses and programs. The first report, titled "The State of E-Learning in the States," provides an overview of state efforts in distance learning. The other, "A Vision of E-Learning for America's Workforce," was written by members the Commission on Technology and Adult Learning, and advocates increased spending on online learning.
